This page was last edited on 4 December , at The bride is offered saris, turmeric, vermilion and a wedding necklace called Mangal-sutra , worn by married women. I think I needed quite a bit more than just a quick apology to really bring the story to a more cohesive end. Does she get a fancy new pot or something?

Anyway, I liked very much all the cultural background; I liked Kris, and his struggle to cope and to understand Arjuna’s decision. A welcome change to what would have otherwise been a run-of the-mill romance.
Beautifully written novella full of emotion, learning and understanding. I liked Tricia and her serenity. It’s incredibly tough if it’s not the choice we wish. I really, really enjoyed this story. The ending was weird and abrupt.

Kris is the gardener of the two, but of course he’s in no position to heal the plant, since he will no longer be a part of Arjuna’s life. The plant signifies love and happiness – something that Arjuna is desperate to find with his bride to be. You feel the dream in trying to please your family and your culture even as it tears you and others apart. Kris on the other hand is defeatist from the break-up. jappy
So, I liked the story, but the romance is not my cup of tea. A sweet, funny novella, Tulsi Vivah is a holiday read with a difference.
I love Kaling’s voice. Anyway, drama ensues with a supporting cast of disapproving parents, an unaware fiancee, a goddess!! Views Read Edit View history. I know it’s a workable trope for the advent calendars and Dreamspun desires lines and it was vivahh good story, but not among my favorites.
Kris’s heart and life break completely when his beloved Arjuna shatters their relationship by agreeing to an arranged marriage.
I would actually love to read this story as a full novel as there is a lot of nuance and balance I would love to explore with Arjuna and Kris. From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.
